From the start of all this planning I knew I wanted my girls to look unique. I wanted to let their own personalities show on our wedding day. Shoes have been the topic of conversation lately. Should they all be the same? Do they match the guys ties? If they are all different will it look tacky? Then I came upon this picture...
Our exact color dressess and ALL DIFFERENT SHOES! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT! So, this is what were going with. We are going to head out to Dyed to Match (ugh, I know Dyed shoes...BUT they have over 50 styles and they are actually cute!), and pick our style and color. I wanted to wear a colored shoe but after looking at this pic I may go traditional...What do you think?

I Think We Found It...
While searching for a honeymoon we were looking for a few things:
1. Price, keeping it realistic
2. Food, we needed lots of options since Matt's not one for adventurous eating
3. A balcony suite, we want to wake up and feel a nice breeze off the ocean
4. Time, Hawaii was soon out of the question because neither of us can stand a 15 hour plane ride, or being gone for more than a week
After talking with my newly engaged cousin, and bridesmaid, Sarah (WOOT WOOT!) she mentioned this place: The Excellence Resort - Playa Muerjes
The all inclusive program at Excellence Playa Mujeres includes:
Special Welcome Cocktail and cool towel
Full breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks each day
8 à la carte dining options
2 à la carte lunch options (Grill & Deli)
1 buffet restaurant for breakfast & lunch
Spa cuisine available for breakfast, lunch and dinner
11 bars
Unlimited natural fruit juices and soft drinks
Unlimited international premium and domestic alcoholic beverages
24-hour room service
Mini-bar in room stocked daily with water, juices, soft drinks, beer and snacks
Coffee/tea maker in room, complete with coffee, tea, sugar and cream
Pool and beach waiter service
7 swimming pools (4 heated in winter, 2 of them in the Excellence Club area), with a total of 55,500 sq.feet
Here's a video of the room we're going to get (minus the huge patio - not sure if that is included in our stay)
It's going to be perfect!

It's Been a While...
Well, real life has begun. I'm back to teaching, Matt is almost fully healed from his dancing mishap, and time is moving fast. This time next week the wedding will be 10 months away. time flies when I'm at work, so I can only imagine how fast those 10 months will go by.
For now, here's my to do list:
1. Flower Appointment with Maureen (Maureen's Wholesale) on 10/12
2. Engagement Shoot with Dominique on 10/17
3. Figure out where I'm going to print all my invites
4. Follow up on my Bridesmaids, make sure dressess are ordered by November
5. Start to look for the perfect shoes
6. To veil or not to veil?
I could go on, but I'm trying not to overwhelm myself!

Sash Crazy!
Combing the wedding blogs and boards I've found that the wedding sash is VERY POPLUAR. I'm not gonna lie, I'm feelin it. I played around with the idea of a reception dress that was more flirty and fun than my gown, but it will be much cheaper to change up my look with just accessories!
Whip my hair up into a loose updo, throw on a sash, touch up the make up and VOILA! a whole new fresh look for the reception. Here are some on my favorite sashes on Etsy right now -
I'm still debating on which style is best for me.....

I'm Back!
I saw my cousin Georgine this morning, along with a ton of other family members, (kind of weird we were all there at the same time) at the Marketside for breakfast. She reminded me that I haven't updated the blog in over a week...so sorry for the delay! I had no idea that people were even reading this blog :)
I really don't have any huge updates, but would like to take a moment to recognize our FABULOUS PHOTOGRAPHER, Dominique.
She is an independent photographer who owns Modern Photographie in Buffalo. Dominique is also a teacher in the Sweet Home District (which makes us even more compatible). I knew she was the right girl when I walked into her home and saw her hallway pained in our wedding colors. Not to mention her sweet daughter who I could here from the other room saying, "Mommy, I want to see the girl" ... ADORABLE!
Matt and I were attracted to her ability of capturing the most intimate moments of a wedding, effortlessly. Please check out her work! Can't wait for our turn :)

Rice Alternative
DIY Ribbon Streamers
You'll need:
* Ribbon of your choice
* A small hot glue gun
* 8" Candy Sucker sticks (You can use dowels but these are much cheaper)
* Sewing Scissors
Step #1:
Cut your ribbon to the length you prefer (mine are about 10")
Step #2:
Add a little glue to the end of one side and place your sucker stick on.
(sorry for the not so great picture)
Step #3:
Add a little more glue to the other side of the stick and roll it up. Pinch the top tightly for 30 seconds allowing the glue to harden.
Step #4:
Place in a jar or vase to dry
I've got 25 down and 75 to go...Looking forward to something like this...

LOVING IT!!!!
I have a very wide foot. My poor parents spent a lot of money on shoes for me as a child and I've never been able to walk into any store and pick a pair of shoes of the shelf (except for Payless). So here I am looking for the perfect, brightly colored, wedding shoe...unsuccessful. Apparently if you have wide feet, you like ugly shoes. So I was intrigued by this concept earlier today...DYED CRINOLINE!
If I went this route I could skip the bright shoe all together and would save me a lot of headaches. Plus, it's so stinking CUTE!

Here's To Keeping It Simple
I want to look like ME on our wedding day. Picking a date right in the middle of summer, I wasn't thinking about the heat, but rather that I'd have time to prep after school finished and time to relax before it started again. Then I started to think about the HEAT!
We went to a wedding this year on July 30th, one year to the day that we are slated to marry. It was the most beautiful day EVER! Sun shining, 75 degrees, a nice but not overpowering breeze...if only it could be a preview into next year!
Heat or no heat, I'm wearing my hair down. I barely wear my hair up if I'm not cleaning, working out or hanging around the house.
Simple & elegant... I just want to look like me. Here are some ideas...

Wedding Dress of the Year!
Thursday, July 29, 2010
You're seated at table...
I really was thinking of skipping place cards and doing a poster of some sort, but these are way too cute! Also, a fun DIY (Do-It-Yourself) for me and whoever will help!
Kudos to my Wedding Guru, Katie for the idea (these were from her summer wedding a year ago)
And now, keeping with tradtion, a song lyric...
Sittin' in the mornin' sun
I'll be sittin' when the evenin' come
Watching the ships roll in
And then I watch 'em roll away again, yeah
I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll away
Ooo, I'm just sittin' on the dock of the bay
Wastin' time

DIY Invites
We got adventurous and ventured into Do-It-Yourself Invitations. Thank God for graphic designer friends and printer connections. I've basically scoured the Internet for the best paper, envelopes and inspiration. We'll be going with charcoal grey as our main color with accents or orange, sunshine and fuschia. I was ECSTATIC when my favorite paper provider PaperSource came out with brand new envelope colors!
SUNSHINE ENVELOPES!!!!!
We'll definitely use them for the response cards...can't wait to get all those sunshine envelopes in the mail!
Oh...and I keep forgetting to end each post with a song lyric, so here goes.
I need to laugh, and when the sun is out
I've got something I can laugh about
I feel good, in a special way
I'm in love and it's a sunny day
Good Day Sunshine - The Beatles
I promise not to forget anymore, Joey

Grey Street
One thing Matt and I both share is the love for the color Grey. I knew the guys in grey would be great for the summer, but have had mixed reactions when I tell people the girls will also be wearing grey (charcoal grey to be exact).
Personally, I think it's sharp, modern and classic. Paired with bright flowers, it's hands down the most classy color pairing since ebony and ivory...

Our First Post
I started this blog without asking for Marisa's approval. This will be a place where maybe we'll put up pictures or other very important things, information and stuff in the time leading up to our big day and beyond?
Or I or we may never come back to this site, for the rest of time.
I will start a tradition of ending each blog with a favorite quote for everyone(?) to think about:
"I'ma break it down and do whatever I gots to do
I tell you now, I got eyes for you
You got eyes, but they not for me
You better use them for what they for and that's to see"
